My Calling to Write – A Look Behind the Scenes

I wanted to write some personal this week in my Blog and as I prayed about it I thought I would give you a look behind the scenes and why I write as much as I do. We each need to review our callings in God from time to time and re-evaluate where we are and what we are doing. So here are some of my musings.

I still lived in Kansas City. It was 17 or so years ago. I had been on the road ministering and had just gotten home. I heard that there were extended meetings going on in Saint Louis at a church and that Rodney Howard Brown was ministering. I was hungry for more of the Lord and Michal Ann blessed me to go check things out. I decided to go with a couple of my friends. It was a fascinating series of meetings to me. I saw the raw anointing of God flowing through one of His servants.

I WAS DESPERATE!

I began to cry out loud in the middle of the service as this man of God would slowly pass through the crowds and simply touch them and say over and over again, “FILL!” Well, he eventually made his way to the left side where I was sitting with my friends. I kept declaring, “Right here! Right now!” I was not disappointed but was surprised by what happened. As the servant of the Lord touched me, I was taken up in the Spirit in what is called a trance. I was no longer aware of what was taking place in the meeting but rather brought into a place invited by the Holy Spirit where heavenly worship was taking place. Then I heard a word spoken to me.

“I commission you to compose transferrable concepts for those who will be touched in the coming moves of God. I commission you to write books, training manuals, and audio and video messages to ground my people in the Word of God. Ground them in the understandings of the previous historic moves of God so that the enemy will not be able to steal from them the impartations I give to them. I commission you to write about Encounters with God so that they may be equipped to be all that I call them to be.”

The Seer Expanded Edition
Up to that point and time the only real writing I had done was my monthly newsletter. That was it. I was not trained in creative writing. My college degree was a BS in Social Work! But God does not always call the qualified; He calls the available. Then He trains the available and qualifies them to fulfill their calling.

Well, that was my “calling and commissioning” into a lot of what I still do to this day. I started having dreams of book titles and covers of books and study guides. Step by step the Holy Spirit led me and now today I have written some Best Sellers and some others – that are just as equally as good – but are relatively unnoticed books. I have now composed somewhere around 20 books, 20 study manuals and another 10 co-authored books.

This is now all leading up to the launch this fall of the God Encounters Training – E-School of the Heart – where faith and life meet. My hunger for more of the Lord led me into a journey that was a surprise to me. I am sure He also has some surprises in store for you as well.

So there is peak behind the scenes into My Calling to Write. I trust you have and will benefit from this personal note. Be All You Can Be!

Seeking the Vision that Sustains Us

Keeping our vision of the Lord clear before us will sustain us through the many labors of our life and ministry.

Over the years, I have become convinced that in the Christian life at least two things are certain: God never changes, and we are always changing. Our life as a Christian is a continual transition from one place to another, one level to another, one understanding to another. The purpose of spiritual light is to bring us into change and growth. The more light we have, the more change we experience, and the more we change (for the better) the more we are brought into higher levels of glory. Unless we are in constant transition, we will stop somewhere along the way and settle down. The Christian life is a frontier. God did not call us to be settlers but to be pilgrims and pioneers. This is the point of Paul's prayer in the first chapter of Ephesians.

The more enlightenment we have, the more wisdom and revelation we are open to receive, and the greater understanding we can develop of the hope of His calling, the glory of His inheritance, and the surpassing greatness of His power as they apply to our lives.

Food for thought:
How has keeping your vision of the Lord clear before you sustained you through your labors in ministry and in your life?

Poison and Antidote

"Now, there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit. And there are varieties of ministries, and the same Lord. And there are varieties of effects, but the same God who works all things in all persons."-1 Corinthians 12:4-6

Clearly the prophetic anointing manifests in many diverse ways. All arise from the same Holy Spirit., who gives as He wills. With this in mind, a warning is in order. There is a deadly poison that can kill our ministry and our ability to walk in our anointing, whatever it may be: the poison of covetousness. Comparing ourselves to someone else and wanting what they have produces death. We should never judge or evaluate our anointing by someone else's anointing. It is vitally important to avoid jealousy and insecurity. God has plenty of anointing to go around. Let's be satisfied to seek our own calling and walk in our own anointing.

The antidote to this poison is to learn to walk in accountability with others, cultivating faithfulness while giving ourselves to the unique expression of grace that God has imparted to each of us. Sometimes we are prone to allow ourselves to be hindered by rejection, criticism, legalistic traditions, and the restrictive yokes and molds of others' unrealistic and erroneous expectations.

The Holy Spirit will help us and liberate us to be unique and varied expressions of His wonderful prophetic presence and yet walk circumspectly with integrity within the Church.

James W. Goll

Food for thought:
When we are satisfied with our own calling, we acknowledge certain aspects of God's character. What are some of these? How does faith come into play in order to walk in our own anointing?

THE FATHER’S LOVE MEDITATION

As you slowly and prayerfully read this out loud – listen to your very words. Everything you are now reading is straight from Scripture, straight from the heart of Papa God. It is a brief enumeration of the overwhelming evidence of Papa God’s love for you.

You, the one whose hairs are all numbered. The one whose thoughts are all known before you even think them and whose life was carefully considered before your birth. The one whom the Father thinks about more times each day than there are grains of sand on the seashore. You… are His favorite.

“How do I love thee?” He says. “Let me count the ways.” The Word of God is His love letter to you. If you imagine God the Father as distant, angry, even abusive, let Him change your mind about His goodness. Let Him convince you.

My Child…

I know when you sit down and when you rise up. Psalm 139:2 Even the very hairs on your head are numbered. Matthew 10:29-31

I knew you even before you were conceived. Jeremiah 1:4-5 I knit you together in your mother’s womb. Psalm 139:13

I am not distant and angry, but am the complete expression of love. 1 John 4:16 And it is my desire to lavish my love on you. 1 John 3:1

My plan for your future has always been filled with hope. Jeremiah 29:11 My thoughts toward you are countless as the sand on the seashore. Psalm 139:17-18

And I want to show you great and marvelous things. Jeremiah 33:3 If you seek me with all your heart, you will find me. Deuteronomy 4:29

Delight in me and I will give you the desires of your heart. Psalm 37:4 For it is I who gave you those desires. Philippians 2:13

I am also the Father who comforts you in all your troubles. 2 Corinthians 1:3-4 When you are brokenhearted, I am close to you. Psalm 34:18

I am your Father, and I love even as I love My Son, Jesus. John 17:23 For in Jesus, My love for you revealed. John 17:26

He is the exact representation of My being. Hebrews 1:3 He came to demonstrate that I am for you, not against you. Romans 8:31

Jesus died so that you and I could be reconciled. 2 Corinthians 5:18-19 His death was the ultimate expression of my love for you. 1 John 4:10

I gave up everything I loved that I might gain your love. Romans 8:31-32 If you receive the gift of my Son, Jesus, you receive me. 1 John 2:23

Come home and I’ll throw the biggest party heaven has ever seen. Luke 15:7 I am waiting for you. Luke 15:11-32

It Takes Two

Does God really speak today? Will He speak personally to me? If I listen, will He speak in such a manner that even I can understand? Thank God, the answer is yes! And believe it or not, God Himself wants all of us to hear what He is saying-more than any of us do!

Fellowship is not a one-way road. It takes at least two, with both parties-in one another's presence-sharing attentively in some kind of communion. Our relationship with our heavenly Papa was never meant to be a long-distance telephone conversation.

"Available" is God's middle name. He is just aching to spend time alone with each of us. He yearns to hear from us. He wants us to know how attentive He is.

As I travel in my ministry, I am often away from home for days at a time. On top of that my 4 kids live in 4 different states! So I have to diligently attempt to keep in touch with what is happening at home and in my kids lives. Using today's wonderful technology-texts, emails, phone calls and such-we all attempt to be in touch. But cell phone calls and text messages do not compare or replace being with them in person! Sometimes I just need a hug! True love requires being together. The greatest key to hearing God's voice is cultivating a love-based relationship.

As for me, I want to hear His voice and intimately know Him, not just on a casual basis, but also on a daily, vibrant one. Join me and thousands of others who are learning to hear the Master's beckoning voice by leaning our ear toward Him. Go on a journey of beginning to hear (and love hearing) God's voice.

Rediscovering Life After Tragedy

Greetings in the Great Name of Jesus!

I have had the desire to compose something short yet close to my heart concerning incidents in my recent journey of life. I am learning a ton about the heart, brain functions, emotions, and how to push the restart button. Remember, all things are possible in Christ Jesus! Everyday is the first day of your new life!

Most of you know my recent history of the loss of my dear wife, Michal Ann, on September 15th, 2008 and then my decade long battle with non-hodgkins lymphoma cancer in three different locations. Cancer is a beast! But that part of the battle is over and now I am rebuilding my immune system that became depleted thru the process. That is another story for another time.

What I want to convey is some tips I am learning about REDISCOVERING LIFE AFTER TRAGEDY! So here are some short thoughts:

God is Good All the Time – No Matter What Comes Your Way! You got to really nail this one down really well or you will not move forward – you will get stuck in regret and remorse and be a parked car with only yesterday’s memories. God is Good period!

All Things Work Together for Good for Those Who Love God. I did not say all things are good or that God caused everything. But when you bring it all to HIM He will take the mess and forge it together for your and His GOOD!

God is the Source of Our Life – Yes, I know you know this – but do you really know this? Take the tragedy or crisis in your life and get in God’s Face! He gives life and He never puts out a smoldering wick! God is your source of life! He was before and He is not finished with you yet!

Worship God with Your Questions – Questions will remain. Though we “see through a mirror dimly, one day we will see face to face.” Frankly, I am not looking for all my questions to be answered on this side. Yep, you heard me. I am learning to “trust the Lord with all my heart and lean not on my own understanding.” Yes, grieve. Yes, emote. But eventually, you cannot live in the past. In the midst of it all – I am learning a huge key – Worship God with Your Questions!

Avoid Downward Spirals! One dot leads to the next dot or thought. Every memory has a stored emotion with it. But you must learn to “catch the little foxes that spoil the vine.” This all deals with good mental health. If you are not careful, you will fall into the trap of a victim mind set and end up in a downward spiral that leads to quick sand where you get swallowed up with old stained emotions. Learn the path that leads you downward. Catch the little foxes at the beginning of the trail. Stop. Pause. Tell yourself you are not going there. Put back on your helmet of Hope of Salvation!

Tell Your Heart to Beat Again! Disappointments hit us all. Your heart is one of the most amazing organs in the entire human body. You have to speak to your heart and tell it is beat again! You have to stuff the words of life of the Bible back into your mind and heart again. Watch over your heart for out of it flows the issues of life. Tell Your Heart it Has Another Chance in Life! Tell it to Beat Again!

What Are Your Passions in Life? Go on an adventure. Before this tragedy or crisis – you enjoyed life. What brought life to you? I rediscovered that before I was ever a married, before I was ever a preacher or prophet or intercessor – I was a singer. Singing brings great joy to my soul. I feel the most inspired, the most “life” when I sing. So guess what? I am going to make my first singing CD! Why? Cause it will bring impact to many? Sure! But in all reality, I am committed to doing this because it is “life to me”. I am going to sing again! Yes, Inspiration with James W. Goll and Friends!

There’s a lot more to share. But those are seven quick little ideas I am learning of Rediscovering Life after Tragedy! Hey world, I got another life to live! I am here for a purpose! Yes, God is good all the time and His mercies are new every morning!

Sincerely,

James W. Goll

The Seer Realm

Within the overall realm of the prophet lies the particular and distinctive realm of the seer… The word seer describes a particular type of prophet who receives a particular type of prophetic revelation or impartation.

When it comes to prophetic revelation, a prophet is primarily an inspired hearer and then speaker while a seer is primarily visual. In other words, the prophet is the communicative dimension and the seer is the receptive dimension. Whereas nabiy' emphasizes the active work of the prophet in speaking forth a message from God, ra’ah and chozeh focus on the experience or means by which the prophet “sees or perceives” that message.

All true seers are prophets, but not all prophets are seers. A prophet may have the particular grace to hear and proclaim the word of the Lord and yet not necessarily function as profusely in the revelatory visionary capacity as a seer does. The seer, on the other hand, may move quite remarkably in this visionary dream capacity yet not be as deep in the inspirational audible graces of hearing and speaking. Nevertheless, both move and operate in the prophetic realm, but in different capacities or dimensions.

“[The seer realm] of prophetic anointing has a lot to do with quietly waiting on God. Quite often impartation in the seer realm comes only after a time of patient waiting and contemplative meditation upon the Lord. But thank the Lord, if we wait, He will come!”

What has the Lord been speaking to you today?
