The Seer and Prophet

In the spiritual realm, the flow of the prophetic from Heaven to earth resembles the Nile River. Just as the White Nile and the Blue Nile join to create the greater river called the Egyptian Nile, two streams of prophetic anointing come together to feed the greater concourse of the mighty prophetic river of God on earth. We can call these two streams the stream of the prophet and the stream of the seer.

Another way to look at this is to turn it around and think of a great prophetic river flowing from the throne of God that breaks into two streams-the prophet and the seer-which then give different degrees or dimensions or facets of prophetic impartation. Either way, it should be clear that both streams are important for the full expression of the Lord's prophetic word to His people in our day.

What is the difference between a prophet and a seer?
"All true seers are prophets but not all prophets are seers."

A prophet or prophetess, then, is a spokesperson for God; one who hears the voice of the Holy Spirit and speaks or pens God's mind or counsel through a "divinely anointed manner."

  1. Mr. Goll, is a seer the same as someone who sees in the spirit? I have done this all my life but usually just the dark side, although occasionally I'll see a sword flying like in a battle when I do warfare. If not then what differentiates between a seer & one who simply sees in the spirit? Can a seer also hear in the spirit? I used to hear hard-soled shoes marching to my front door but a little spiritual warfare & they are gone now by Gods grace. I never saw the demon in that particular situation, just heard the steps. Thanks in advance.

    1. Yes a seer can also see in the spirit. I would encourage you to get my new book being released shortly, "The Seer Expanded"! You can pre-order it here:

  2. Amen, Prophet James, I have posted a very similiar writing at my blog early year 2011, here is the link to share with you :

All ministers in prophetic are called to intercede
but not all intercessors are called to be prophet.

    God bless you abundantly,

  3. Loving your Book "The Seer".

  4. I often 'see' in the spirit, when I am praying or even talking with people. A lot of the times, I get words of wisdom through these 'visions'. Is that a seer anointing? Am I a seer? Thanks.

  5. I'm grateful for your forerunner teaching on this subject, and have read "The Seer". The last years God has been drawing me into the seer prophetic and I now do a ten-part series about seers here:
